The area(s) that best represents your current position/experience:

Family Member of a Person with a Disability, State Agency Representative, Employer or Business Owner

Describe your history/nature of involvement/interest in promoting competitive integrated employment in your state. Additionally, explain why you are passionate about competitive, integrated employment for people with disabilities:

I am the older brother of a young adult with unique abilities and have been job coaching for 30-plus years is what I would describe as my first-hand involvement. Our family has always believed there is no ceiling for anyone with a passion or drive to work and contribute to society and the community. Within this spirit, my mother created The de Moya Foundation which is a VR Supported Provider creating employment opportunities for young adults with unique abilities. I am passionate because my brother has always been told you can’t do certain things that I was given the opportunity to do and that never sat well with me.

What relevance does/should APSE and its chapters/members have in national and state conversations regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion?

It is vital for there to be APSE relevance in the National and State conversations because every single city, county, state, and area is unique regarding their equity, diversity, and inclusion within the community. It is important for us to learn from each other and collaborate together to make employment available to all.

What skills, knowledge, or lived experience do you have that will contribute to strengthening and growing the financial health of APSE and promoting its mission to advance employment and self-sufficiency for all people with disabilities?

I believe I can bring a unique set of skills within the digital media space to spread a larger awareness and education behind hiring people with disabilities as a unique Win-Win scenario for companies. Using my background skills in TV, film, digital marketing, and media can break down those barriers to employment for our community and showcase the benefits.

Candidates for Regional Delegate seats only: Discuss how you will represent the needs of the chapters in your region and work to strengthen APSE’s chapter structure.

I plan to represent the needs of all the chapters within our region leading by example with what our program DMF Employment Opportunities INC is doing in our area. Using this as a learning tool for other programs and becoming a strong provider in a notable city.
