APSE’s Letter of Support for the Introduction of the Disability Employment Incentive Act of 2018

Senator Robert Casey
Ranking Member, Special Committee on Aging
393 Russell Senate Office Building
United State Senate
Washington, DC 20510

July 13, 2018

Dear Senator Casey,

On behalf of the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE), I write in support of your introduction of the Disability Employment Incentive Act of 2018. We commend you for your leadership in championing disability employment in the Senate.

Tax credits for employers are an important part of the employment landscape for Americans with disabilities, who consistently face significant barriers to employment. We would like to see Senator Casey take additional steps to introduce more comprehensive legislation that not only expands tax credits for employers who hire and make accommodations for workers with disabilities but also builds capacity in the system to support employees with disabilities to attain and sustain competitive integrated jobs in their communities. We must continue to expand the progress that has been made over the past several years to build programs and supports that enable employees with disabilities to pursue and sustain employment, self-sufficiency, and asset development.

For 30 years, APSE’s mission has been to support Employment First to facilitate the full inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace and community. We are grateful for your leadership on this issue and look forward to working with you to support this legislation.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Stonemeier
Executive Director, APSE National
