APSE Welcomes Broad Futures Interns

Please join us in welcoming APSE’s new interns. Christian Souvenir, of Gaithersburg, MD, (left) and Sam Flood, of Ridgewood, NJ, (right). We are thrilled and excited to have their enthusiasm and skill sets that they bring to their work with the National Office.
Christian has a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Lawrence Technological University in South Field, Michigan. He is skilled with systems administration, website maintenance, and many other areas of IT. His dream job is to use his skills to help people. Christian is proud of his family heritage from Guyana in South America.
Sam has a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Mitchell College in New London, CT. Sam is skilled in writing, design, and mathematics. His dream job is to work for a marketing company working in all areas of marketing and advertising. Sam is fond of his memories from attending the London Olympics in 2012.
Christian and Sam come to APSE via BroadFutures. BroadFutures is revolutionizing the way young people with learning and related disabilities enter the workforce through an innovative training, mentoring and paid internship program. BroadFutures’ unique curriculum is specifically designed to meet the needs of diverse learners by focusing on professionalism, communication, and stress tolerance, while incorporating the arts, yoga, and mindfulness.
Since being incorporated in 2013, BroadFutures has served more than 110 young people directly and hundreds more through community outreach, as well as partnering with over 40 employers in the D.C. Metropolitan area. BroadFutures is proud to work to educate employers on the benefits of having a diverse workforce that is inclusive of individuals with disabilities.
