APSE welcomes two (paid!) summer interns in 2021, Ellie Kishter and Fermina Lopez!

In partnership with Broad Futures and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), National APSE staff are excited to be working with two summer interns as they continue to build their skills for employment and explore future career paths.

Fermina is a young woman with black and purple hair, glasses, and wearing a pink shirt. She's smiling toward the camera.

Meet Fermina Lopez

Fermina lives in Portland, Oregon. She wants to become a Peer Mentor/Job Coach for people with disabilities, as she has benefited from support through Vocational Rehabilitation. Fermina is also working on a business plan to work as a motivational speaker and offer workshops to share her story as a person living with an intellectual and physical disability.

Ellie is a young woman smiling at the camera.

Meet Ellie Kishter

Ellie is from Cantonsville, Maryland. She has always wanted to help others, and has been a volunteer with her community church for many years. Ellie will be working with APSE staff on a variety of projects throughout the summer. In Ellie's free time, she likes to read, draw, and write stories.
