Session Description:
Join Chanel Keenan, the Intersectionality Consultant for the Seattle Kraken who assists the Seattle Kraken & partnering groups on all things related to disability. From assisting fans with disabilities, employee experiences, and how they can better improve it each season. Pursuing the goal of creating a flourishing and diverse hockey community, from the youth level all the way to our Pro’s.

The conversation will focus on:

  • Working with existing departments to ensure timely management and support of DEI programs.
  • Facilities + Operations - Ensuring in-arena accessibility for all fans, KCI visitors, and full and part-time employees.
  • Working with HR to ensure that all employee relations have room to cater to the disabled community, following our equal opportunity employment guidelines
  • Ensuring the long-term sustainability of DEI programs within the organization
  • Continuing to maintain a strong relationship with the NHL and when appropriate and approved, sharing positive findings and experiences
  • Attending all or most game/event experiences, monitoring from an inclusive and accessibility lens, and then subsequently reporting what works and what we can improve on.
  • Creating a comprehensive database of organizations that are unique and non-traditional
